Bush Garden Blooms
The concept of The Bush Garden Collection is one that came about subconsciously and manifested with each daily walk through the bush. The natural bush has a rugged and yet sensitive way of pulling us into the mystery of how flowers naturally respond to the changing seasons. Wildflower blooms are so individual and striking. Yet, they flower alongside each other in such a harmonious array of shapes, textures and colours
My grandmother held a bouquet of wildflowers on her wedding day. She loved the Australian bush and would often call it ‘the bush garden’ ~ I believe these feelings and values are passed on with every generation.
I love being a mother and grandmother; it’s a precious gift, a privilege and a blessing. One thing that I have come to understand, is that mothers are like gardens ~ they feed and nurture others and help them to grow, while simultaneously trying to maintain their own wildflowers ~ it’s so important to show your children who you are and share your values.
This painting uses layers of paint to express the beauty of the Australian bush garden: the wattle yellows of the Elephant Ear Wattle with the Pink Flowering Gum sneaking in over eucalypt leaves, are in full bloom here!
It’s a painting about letting go, and embracing what grows wildly inside you, because these are the most valuable things.
